Digital Marketing in
Latin America

Alza Digital works across fifteen Spanish-speaking countries from an office in Panama City. Campaigns are built around what people search for in a specific city, because a buyer in Medellín and a buyer in Santiago do not type the same words even when they want the same thing.

How the region actually works

Fifteen countries, not one market.

Agencies that treat Latin America as a single audience lose to the ones that do not. The language is shared. The search behaviour is not. Four things we have found running keyword research across every market in the region.

01

The volume is in cities, not countries

One city term, agencia de marketing digital monterrey, draws around a thousand searches a month on its own. That is more than most country-level terms in the entire region. Country pages organise the site and pass authority downward. City pages are where buyers actually arrive.

02

The same service has different names

In Colombia, posicionamiento web carries roughly six times the volume of agencia seo. A page built on the wrong term is invisible no matter how well it is written. We check the local phrasing before writing anything, in every market.

03

Nobody in the region searches for PPC

They search for Google Ads and Facebook Ads by name. Those two terms carry more combined volume than every other paid advertising phrase in the dataset put together. It is a small detail that decides whether a page is ever found.

04

Two markets search in two languages

Costa Rica and Chile return near-identical volume for the Spanish and English versions of the same term. Everywhere else, Spanish dominates outright. In tourism and expat economies, the language your customers search in is not always the language you speak.

Where we work

Choose your market.

Each country page covers the local search landscape, which platforms carry weight there, the competitive picture, and the city we build from first.

Industries

The same market behaves differently by industry.

Geography is only half of it. A dental clinic and a freight company in the same city reach their buyers through completely different channels, on different timelines, at different moments of decision. Each industry page covers what that looks like and which of the five services to start with.

How a new market starts

The same four steps everywhere.

The research changes country by country. The method does not.

01

We pull the search data for your city

Not the country, and not a regional average. What people in your city type, how much of it there is, and what it costs to advertise against. This happens before anything is proposed or priced.

02

We look at who is already ranking

In several markets the businesses on page one are not agencies or competitors at all, they are directories and listing sites. That tells us how much work it takes to get past them, and sometimes it is far less than you would expect.

03

We recommend a starting service, not all five

Which one depends on your market and your industry. A clinic in a low-competition city is usually an SEO problem. A restaurant is usually a social problem. Selling all five at once is how agencies pad invoices.

04

You get reporting on things we control

Rankings and traffic for SEO. Reach, messages and profile visits for social. Tracked actions and cost per action for ads. We report on what our work moves, in plain language, every month.

Questions

About working across the region

Do you actually work in all fifteen countries?▾
Yes. The work is done remotely from Panama City in every market including Panama itself, which is how a small senior team can cover the region without opening fifteen offices and passing the cost to you. What changes country by country is the research behind the campaign, not who does the work.
Do I have to be in the capital city?▾
No. Each country page names one city because that is where we build first, chosen on search demand rather than population. Colombia starts in Medellín rather than Bogotá, and Mexico in Monterrey rather than the capital, precisely because those are the underserved markets. If your city is not the one named, the same work applies to it.
You are based in Panama. How do you know my local market?▾
Because we look it up rather than assume it. Every market we enter starts with keyword and competitor research specific to that city, and the findings frequently contradict what we expected. Local knowledge that comes from data is more reliable than local knowledge that comes from having driven past the building.
I sell in several countries. Which should I start with?▾
Usually the one where demand is highest relative to competition, which is not always your largest market by revenue. That is a question worth answering with data in the first conversation rather than guessing at it here, and it is free to ask.
What if my country has low search volume?▾
Low volume and low value are different things. In the smaller markets there are fewer searches, but there is also almost no competition for them, so a modest amount of well-built work can take a leading position that would be unreachable in a large market. We will tell you honestly if the numbers do not support the investment.
Can we work in English?▾
Yes, and that is a separate question from what language your campaigns are built in. We work with you in whichever you prefer, and we build for whichever your customers search in. In Costa Rica and Chile in particular, those two are often not the same.
Is the price the same in every country?▾
No, because the work is not the same. Competitive markets take more effort to move than quiet ones, and a scope is written for your specific situation after the research rather than picked off a shelf. Any number quoted before that research would be a guess.
Do you work with businesses in Brazil?▾
No. Brazil is a Portuguese-language market and building for it properly means research, copywriting and review in Portuguese. We would rather tell you that than take the work and do a mediocre job of it.

Which market are you selling in?

Tell us the city and what your business sells. You will get an honest read on what the search demand there actually looks like, before anything is proposed.
